And here's where I had an out of body experience...she says, "mommy, is God a man or a woman?"
Time sort of stopped. I have thought about this question so many times. I've prayed to who knows how many images of God in my head. I've preached about who God is, male or female or spirit or neither. I've read gazillions of pages of feminist theology (shout-out to my sisters in seminary....read now, you won't get as much time to read ever again!). I really should know how to answer that question.
I said, "well, I don't really think God is a man or a woman. I think God is kind of both a man and a woman."
Daughter said, "why don't we use our voices and ask God?
"Mommy, God is a woman. She said so."
Well, there you have it.
